About the Role
iGaming Ontario is seeking an experienced program leader to be our first Director, Player Programs to report to its Chief Responsible Gaming Officer. This role will provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and management of iGaming Ontario’s multiyear responsible gaming and player protection strategy and program. In this key role, the Director, Player Programs will champion player protection initiatives, promote safe gambling practces, and strengthen responsible gaming maturity across Ontario’s igaming sector.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Program Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of iGaming Ontario’s multi-year Responsible Gaming and Player Protection Strategy, including clear goals, priorities, and KPIs.
- Oversee the full Responsible Gaming and Player Protection Program, ensuring strong governance, continuous improvement, and effective tools, policies, and resources for operators and players.
- Identify and advance new responsible gaming and player protection opportunities informed by evidence-based research and industry insights.
Governance, Oversight & Performance Measurement
- Establish and monitor program metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess impact, effectiveness, and operator performance.
- Collaborate with the Operator Partnerships team to design and oversee the governance model for operator responsible gaming performance, including monitoring, analytics, assurance, and consequence/recognition mechanisms.
Player Protection & Supports
- Oversee the development and ongoing management of iGaming Ontario’s player protection supports and tools to ensure they are effective, accessible, and aligned with public-interest objectives
Research, Data & Policy Insight
- Lead the strategy and direction of iGaming Ontario’s responsible gaming and player protection research and data-sharing program, ensuring alignment with public-interest priorities and informing policy development.
Stakeholder Engagement & External Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership in stakeholder engagement related to responsible gaming and player protection, including identifying and managing key stakeholders, developing engagement strategies, resolving risks and conflicts, gathering feedback, and representing iGaming Ontario through industry collaboration and outreach.
People & Team Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing team by setting priorities, allocating resources, coaching staff, and supporting performance management and talent development.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Public Policy, Behavioral Science, Health Program Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of combined senior manager and director level experience.
- Strong program-management experience, including oversight of technology solutions and advanced knowledge of policy/program creation and evaluation.
- Knowledge of gaming industry, responsible gaming and player protection tools are an asset or related industry and social responsibility programs.
- Strong knowledge in research methodologies, statistics, and data analysis.
- Proven project-management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across internal teams, operators, and external stakeholders.
