Reports to Vice President of Operations
Location Edmonton Area, AB
Style In-Office
Travel Site travel is expected and will be required as needed. It is anticipated to be less than 50%.

Mandate
The HSE Manager is responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of the health and safety programs across the entire organization and active worksites. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices to create and maintain a safe working environment. The HSE Manager leads a team of safety professionals, develops and implements HSE systems, provides training and mentorship, and supports senior management with data-driven insights and technical expertise. Stakeholders include front line workforce, current clients, future clients and relevant regulatory agencies.
The Selected Individual will be expected to bring forward new ideas, technologies, and fresh perspective to allow the growth of the Company and its affiliates by helping to protect and to develop our frontline workers.
Key Accountabilities
1. Leadership & Compliance
• Manage and supervise health & safety employees across all active project sites.
• Ensure the implementation, updating, review, and auditing of the company’s HSE systems.
• Monitor compliance with safety regulations and company directives, updating procedures as needed.
• Foster a culture of safety by motivating and familiarizing employees with company safety procedures and equipment.
2. Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare health and safety documentation for new tenders, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Oversee Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) return-to-work programs and claims .
• Generate statistical reports on safety performance, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
3. Training & Development
• Coach, train, and mentor employees and supervisors on active project sites, reinforcing safety best practices.
• Conduct in-house safety training sessions to enhance employee awareness and competency.
• Provide technical support and safety guidance.
4. Risk Management & Investigations
• Conduct internal and support external safety audits to assess compliance and effectiveness of HSE programs.
• Participate in accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Analyze data gathered to identify trends and develop improvement plans.
5. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
• Liaise with clients on safety-related matters, ensuring alignment with contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Provide safety support and supervision in the preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start-up activities.

Ability to work independently within a team of senior leadership.
Education
Related post-secondary, formal education, technical or engineering degree an asset.
Experience
A minimum of 7 years of experience in providing HSE leadership across an industrial organization
