THE YOUTH
PASSING LANE

This workshop is designed for youth, parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, social workers and those who work with youth. There are considerable issues facing today’s youth. This interactive and informative session delivers current information as well as solutions for issues including: anxiety, anger management, dating violence, depression, grief & loss, healthy lifestyles and relationships. During these collaborative sessions, the solutions often come straight from participants. These solutions and ideas can be taken back and implemented in communities anywhere.

  • The Teen Brain – “This Site Under Construction” how teen brains are different and why teens do the things they do.
  • Teen Depression, Anxiety & Worry – all these issues interfere with teens being able to fully develop and participate in school, home & outside activities.
  • Teen Anger Management – triggers and coping techniques.
  • Teens Experiencing Grief & Loss – how teens experience and learn to cope with loss.
  • Dating Violence – what it is, effects on boys & girls.
  • Components of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Healthy Relationships building the 4th and most important “R” into education.
  • Learning life skills, social skills and building emotional intelligence.
  • Building resilience and promoting healthy choices, reduce bullying and improve quality of life.

PREVENTION WORKSHOP

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY FOR ALL SCHOOL STAFF: CREATING A BULLY FREE SCHOOL & CLASSROOM/RUNNING A SCHOOL WIDE SOCIAL SKILL PROGRAM

These “how to “ sessions provide participants with answers, and an action plan, for dealing with bullying and other negative school and classroom behaviors. Each participant receives an information package, curriculum materials (65 pages) as well as a school wide implementation plan for a two year Social Education Skills program . (Requires 5 Hrs instructional time)

WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS: RAISING A BULLY FREE FAMILY

These positive and informal sessions are open to all parents, social workers, foster parents, counsellors, healthcare workers, sports coaches and community members etc. All participants will learn: nonviolent bully stopping plans, how to report and deal effectively with bullying situations and problems, and other relationship issues as well as many other “how to’s” useful for their children, families or clients they work with (3 Hrs).

HOW TO CREATE
A BULLY FREE CLASSROOM

Is what we see bullying or a social skill issue? How can we help? Teaching children and youth social skills, friendship skills, and life skills can greatly reduce some of the relationship problems we see children struggling with today. We can help build their social/emotional intelligence by devoting a few minutes daily to a school wide program and return to teaching the whole child. This is an interactive 1 day workshop for all school staff, health staff, day care educators and other front line community workers.

  • Defining bullying.
  • Current information about bullying and why it happens.
  • Recognizing the difference between a bullying situation and a social skill issue.
  • Understanding attachment and student success.
  • Understanding brain development and child behaviours.
  • Self-esteem vs. character development.
  • Identifying potential victim behaviour.
  • Breaking the code of silence.
  • Understanding bully truths and untruths.
  • Safe non-violent bully stopping plans.
  • 22 key ingredients to creating a bully free classroom and school.
  • Teaching students assertive communication skills.
  • Teaching positive self-talk and worth.
  • Helping students/staff understand their rights and responsibilities.
  • How to empower parents and caregivers.
  • How to help victims and bullies.
  • Teaching 72 Social Education Skills and 50 Virtues.
  • Building Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
  • A year long plan will be  presented at the end of the session for all school staff.

Participants will receive a 65 page document full of ready to use information as well as a Social Education Skills Kit for their classroom.

DATING VIOLENCE
INFORMATION YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN NEED

This workshop is appropriate for young men and women aged 12 to 19 years.

Although most dating violence is experienced by young women, it also happens to boys at an increasing rate. We are hearing more often about girls abusing their boyfriends emotionally, verbally and physically. The young people in attendance will learn what dating violence is, how to recognize the warning signs and what they should do if it happens to them or their friends. They will also learn about healthy relationships. This presentation is delivered in separate sessions to boys and girls. An informational session can also be arranged for parents, caregivers, foster parents, teachers, and other community members.

This positive, fun and interactive workshop supports, motivates and empowers participants with valuable experiences, skill building exercises, tools and applicable information. Participants learn more about themselves and others, while developing, setting, and implementing healthy attitudes, goals, relationships and lifestyle plans.

  • Wellness – what is it and why is it important.
  • Effective Communication – examining different styles.
  • Self esteem – What is it, where did it come from, why do some have more of it?
  • Time Management – Yes, you have some control over it.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making – Developing these effective skills.
  • Goal Setting – Learning how to set achievable goals.
  • Healthy Relationships – identify a healthy relationship and the different types of relationships we have, what is appropriate for these relationships.

PARENTING DURING
THE SCHOOL SEASON

Designed to assist parents and caregivers with the difficult role of parenting. In this workshop participants will walk away with a “parenting plan” covering such areas as social skills, rules, chores, homework, school, and much more. “You go!” moms, dads and caregivers.

This is a particularly difficult time to be parenting; our children need our
guidance and support in many different areas of their lives than just during the toddler years. In this workshop participants will walk away with a “parenting plan” covering such areas as social skills, rules, chores, homework, school, and much more.

STARTING A WEB
BASED BUSINESS WORKSHOP

This workshop focuses on how to start and run a web-based business. In this one week session, learn about registering your business, marketing it, utilizing online business tools, shipping of products, how to build customer relationships and provide quality customer service, writing business plans and bookkeeping.

  • Open up and populate all On Line Business tools like Face Book,
  • Pinterest, Etsy etc.

TEACHING
SOCIAL SKILLS

In this interactive workshop all participants will learn how to implement and teach Social Skills and Virtues to very young children in pre-schools, day cares and Head Start Programs.

the following will be covered:

  • What are Social Skills and why are they are so important.
  • The latest research findings on the importance of learning social skills and virtues in the early years.
  • How to “teach” a social skills or virtue lesson within your daily activities using themes and interactions with the children.
  • Begin building Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
  • A yearly plan of teaching social skills and virtues.
  • Track your successes.
  • Working with your community school in creating socially skilled students, reducing bullying and increasing overall academic success.
  • Helping children be more “school and friendship” ready.
  • Understanding how this program will influence the well being of the early childhood educators and all staff.

A teaching plan will be provided to educators at the end of the session. Resources included for each participant.

Using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, this interactive workshop benefits parents, couples, working groups, teachers, youth, managers, team leaders and everyone who wants to learn more about themselves in a fun, positive atmosphere.

Come spend a fun filled positive day and learn about your unique personality type! Using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, participants learn about their preferences and “type”. Why you (and others) say the things you say and do the things you do. You will learn about your strengths and weakness and how to apply them to succeed in relationships with others. This empowering, positive and enjoyable workshop is for everyone with an interest in learning more about themselves (and who isn’t?) with respect to their relationships with others. You will also learn how to communicate more effectively with other personality types.

At SBE group, a main focus is bullying awareness and prevention. We have a strong core group of workshops dedicated to ending bullying.

Life skills - they are at the heart of everything we as people do. Our life skills workshops help participants develop these necessary proficiencies to lead successful lives.

TEAM BUILDING

Working as a part of a team is necessary in daily life. Participants in our team building workshops learn how to be helpful team members and why cooperation and trust among team members is vital.
