POSITION DESCRIPTION
Director, Total Rewards, HR Operations & Analytics
Solmax Centre of Expertise (CoE)
The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Director, Total Rewards, HR Operations & Analytics is a newly created operational leadership role responsible for structuring and coordinating three critical pillars within the HR Centre of Expertise (CoE). This position serves as the strategic leader overseeing the company’s total rewards strategy, HR operational excellence, and HR technology & talent analytics functions.
The incumbent will play a dual role: designing specialized HR programs and frameworks while ensuring the effective delivery and execution of HR services across the organization. This position is instrumental in Solmax’s ongoing HR transformation, driving standardization, digital enablement, and data-driven decision-making across a complex, multi-regional operating model.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Total Rewards
Total Rewards Strategy & Governance:
- Develop and lead the company’s total rewards strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and talent priorities.
- Design and oversee compensation structures, salary frameworks, pay equity initiatives, incentive plans, and benefits strategies.
Compensation & Benefits Design:
- Lead job architecture and job evaluation frameworks, including salary scales, classification structures, short-term incentive (STI) and long-term incentive (LTI) programs, executive and sales compensation, benefits programs, and other reward mechanisms.
Strategic Partnership:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CHRO, executive leadership team, HR Business Partners, and operational leaders on all compensation and rewards-related matters.
HR Operations
HR Service Delivery & Operations:
- Lead day-to-day HR operations and service delivery throughout the full employee lifecycle, from hire to retire.
- Ensure consistent execution of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Oversee onboarding, employee changes, offboarding, HR records management, and documentation.
HR Process Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Structure and optimize HR workflows and operating procedures across all regions.
- Drive automation and operational efficiencies to support scalable growth.
Compliance, Governance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, labor standards, privacy requirements, and company policies across all jurisdictions in which Solmax operates.
Vendor Management & Payroll Partnership:
- Collaborate closely with payroll teams and external providers to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing across the organization’s global footprint.
HR Technology & Talent Analytics
HR Systems & Technology (HRIS):
- Lead HR technology platforms, ensuring data integrity, system optimization, and the successful implementation of a global HRIS.
HR Data Governance:
- Ensure HR data accuracy, consistency, and governance across all systems and regions.
Talent Analytics & Workforce Intelligence:
- Develop and deploy the organization’s talent analytics strategy and roadmap.
- Design HR operational dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to enable data-driven decision-making.
HR Metrics, Analytics & Reporting:
- Produce high-quality executive reporting and workforce analyses to support strategic leadership decisions.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree (MBA, Master’s in Human Resources) or relevant certification (CCP, CEBS, GRP, CHRP/CHRL equivalent) is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing total rewards, HR operations, and/or HR technology within a global, multi-site manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Deep expertise in compensation design, job architecture, executive compensation (STI/LTI), benefits strategy, and pay equity across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proven experience leading HRIS implementation and optimization initiatives (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, or similar platforms).
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement HR analytics tools, dashboards, and data-driven HR strategies.
- Experience managing HR functions across multiple regions (Americas, EMEA, and APAC), including a strong understanding of diverse labor laws, cultural environments, and complex regulatory frameworks.
- Bilingualism in French and English is required given the location of the corporate headquarters and the global scope of the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or natural resources sectors.
- Experience in organizations undergoing significant transformation through post-acquisition integration (M&A) or rapid global expansion.
- Familiarity with private equity-backed environments and the rigor and pace associated with investor expectations.
- Proven experience establishing HR shared services organizations or HR Centre of Expertise (CoE) models.

LOCATION
The position is based at Solmax’s headquarters in Longueuil, Quebec.
